BOUNDARIES · FREE SCRIPT 01
Your boss texts after hours.
A routine message arrives when your working day is already over.
WHAT TO SAY
“I’ll pick this up first thing tomorrow.”
When to use it
For routine requests outside your agreed working hours. If you see the message the next morning, say: “I’ve seen your message and will check it this morning.”
Make it work in practice
You do not need to check every evening message just to say you will reply tomorrow. Use this when you are already in the conversation; otherwise, respond during your next working period.
If the expectation is unclear
Ask during working hours: “When you message in the evening, should I treat it as something for the next day unless we’ve arranged otherwise?”
FOR THE NEXT DIFFICULT MOMENT
More situations. More ways to respond.
The book brings together 75 scenarios, including pushback responses, follow-up messages and context for adapting the wording.
